The UNCTAD Empowerment Programme includes e-coaching courses, featuring a module on Effective Communication that offers theoretical and practical content, along with valuable tips and advice on delivering impactful speeches and presentations, thus enhancing the communication skills of the members of the National Trade Facilitation Committees (NTFC).
In Autumn 2023, the second edition of the course was delivered to selected English-speaking countries participating in UNCTAD's ''Accelerate Trade Facilitation'' project, an initiative supported by the United Kingdom. To demonstrate the knowledge acquired during the course, participants are required to create a video presentation on trade facilitation topics.
Samantha Marie Robinson, coordinator of ASYCUDA at the Customs and Excise Department in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and member of her country's NTFC, introduces the Electronic Single Window for Trade (ESWIFT), a digital platform that consolidates all relevant government agencies and stakeholders into a unified system, described as a one-stop shop. Samantha highlights the challenges faced by small businesses engaging in international trade and having to navigate complex and time-consuming clearance requirements. The implementation of ESWIFT simplifies document submission, reduces administrative burdens, provides real-time tracking, and enhances trade security for all involved parties.
